My Zen Path

Dear reader,

I wish you a very happy and purposeful new year 2017. I wish you many more opportunities to be more of yourself and all that you can be! If I may use Carl Jung's quote ~

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.

As I fondly recall 2016, I am glad that I could complete Personality Theories series that I had planned for, covering 3 major waves: Psychodynamism (Freud et al.), Behaviourism (Pavlov,  Skinner, Bandura etc) and Humanistic Psychology (Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow etc.)I also had a chance to meet some of My Zen Path readers in 2016 and from their sharing I know that they are reading it carefully and some of these articles have resonated with them. Some of their reflections have been really heart-warming. I'd request you to put some such reflections, comments on the website itself so that many others could benefit from that.

Looking forward to 2017, I am planning to write two long articles about Personality Inventories and Introversion-Extroversion. Also, I am hoping to write more My Zen Path exclusive about few inspiring people on My Zen Path. In the last few days, I have made few changes to My Zen Path endeavors, my offer and you can find all those changes on the About page. Also, there is a change in the licensing as well, I am moving from Copyleft to Creative-Commons free for non-commercial use licensing. Please visit the website to view new licensing terms.

It was a wonderful year and I could research and write about some of my favorite psychologists/psychiatrists such as Carl Jung, Rogers, Maslow and so on. I have also enjoyed writing about Amit Godse, my long review of Barry Schwart'z book and few other articles. Here are the top 5 articles of 2016 based on the number of views.

• Honey, I saved the bees!

• In search of calling

• In search of meaning

• Reflections on corporate resignations

• The Puzzle Of Personality

The first one, My Zen Path exclusive  about Amit Godse's honeybee venture is not a surprise because I have seen it going viral on social media, especially Facebook where it got 5000+ reach in a single day. However, I am little surprised that one of my favorites, Why We Work is not there. I have been told personally by few readers that they really found it quite insightful and thought-provoking. Anyway!

I am including excerpts from the top 5 articles in this new year special newsletter and I would love to know your favorite article and your reasons for liking it. Do write it as a comment on the article itself or send me a mail by replying to this newsletter.

As for the new year gift, I have designed a high-resolution wallpaper that features a quote from My Zen Path, and you can download it here: My Zen Path Wallpaper 2017.

I wish you a purposeful and joyous 2017.

Thank you!

In search of calling

This is the long pending second part of my previous article: In search of meaning. I couldn't finish this one as I was busy with few other commitments and writing this was a bit challenging for me. One because of the time constraints, and secondly because it is rather difficult for me to articulate insights or connections that I see …

In search of meaning

In search of meaning

Finding meaning is profound and essential part of our life. Whether we realize this or not, as Carl Jung says: We cannot stand meaningless life! Yet, at times many of us feel that our life is meaningless. When life, work or relationships seem meaningless, many people resort to different things - some distract themselves with pleasures of various kinds, some …

Corporate Resignations

Reflections on corporate resignations

I have a question: Do demanding corporate jobs take toll on your life and family? Don't misunderstand - I am not at all against corporates nor do I see them as evils! I know that it would be almost impossible to execute some herculean projects without them. Moreover, I also believe that with some insightful and thoughtful HR practices, it …
