My Zen Path’s Top 5 Articles of 2024

2024 turned out to be an interesting year in more ways than one. For starters, I didn’t get to write much — life had other plans. Between juggling unpredictable work projects and building my own SaaS, Career Craft AI (designed to make job applications easier and faster), writing took a bit of a backseat. Still, I was curious to see which articles drew the most readers to My Zen Path over the year.

As it turns out, “Being Yourself” continues to hold the top spot as the most popular article — somehow it pulls some strings that I’m unaware of. Close behind is “Ikigai – Reason for Being”, which also got a mention on the Positive Psychology website. I’m also glad to see my research-based pieces, “Career Interests Inventory” and “Personality Theories” (based on Carl Roger’s work) make it to the top 5. And rounding off the list is an article about the remarkable renaissance doctor, Sharada Bapat — a dear friend and someone I deeply admire. People remain intrigued by her inspiring journey.

So, here’s the list of the top 5 articles from My Zen Path in 2024, starting with the most read —

1. Being yourself

“When you figure out how to be yourself it’s an incredibly liberating, untragic way to go through life. You don’t develop an identity that’s predicated on being a patchwork personality. You’re not a composite, an amalgam, of all your experiences and influences. You’re not just somebody’s boss, or somebody’s mom, or anybody’s anything. You’re yourself.”

2. Ikigai – Reason for being

“That is actually the essence of ikigai – something that you love doing, something that gets you in the state of flow. The happiest people are not the ones who achieve the most. They are the ones who spend more time than others in a state of flow.”

3. Career Interests Inventory

“Personalities seek out and flourish in career environments they fit and that jobs and career environments are classifiable by the personalities that flourish in them. The choice of a vocation is an expression of personality.”

4. Walking her own path ~ Sharda Bapat

“Sharda Bapat’s journey is almost incredible – she (re)took her 12th standard examination at the age of 36 as she wanted to be a medical doctor, and she eventually became one. But there is lot more to her than being a doctor. She is indeed a renaissance soul personified…”

5. Personality Theories 5

“Carl Rogers believed that people have inherent motivation, that is the tendency to self-actualize – to develop one’s potential to the fullest extent possible. To achieve the highest level of being that we are capable of.”
